July 2005
Greetings, Brother Knights
WELCOME BROTHER KNIGHTS,
to the 7th Edition of our 2005 Newsletter.
Where has the year gone? 2005 is now more than half over!! This month our hall
improvements will be starting (more later in the newsletter). The old adage, ‘many
hands make light work’ will be true on this project. If you get called to
work, please show up.
From Mike Dixon’s Kitchen
Be sure to come to the meeting this month so you can enjoy
one of the great dinners Mike Dixon and his crew prepare for us. I haven’t
heard what’s to be on the menu, but it’s sure to be a good meal.
Grand Knight’s Column
Brother Knights,
Welcome once again to our monthly newsletter. I want to just
say thank you to everyone who attended the June meeting. You may
or may not know that I was involved in an accident that evening on my way home
from work and was not quite up to par. Thanks for your cooperation and
consideration during the 1st Degree and the meeting. If you are
wondering, I am back to 100%, with no complications.
I also want to thank and congratulate all the officers
elected at the June meeting for their commitment to their offices and accepting
the responsibilities for each office. We all need to give special thanks to the
wives of these members as they too are contributing by being home with kids or
whatever so their husbands may fulfill these positions. I wish to especially
thank my wife, Hayley, for her support of my duties as I enter my sixth term as
Grand Knight of this council. With her support, I enjoy and am proud of what I
am doing; and I will continue to do the best I can as your Grand Knight.
Things to be discussed at the July meeting are: Home
Association Elections; M.R. (aka Tootsie Roll) Drive; Highway Cleanup; 5th
Sunday Breakfast July 31st; A Night at the Races on October 30th;
and of course, Floor Replacement scheduled for August. Please be attentive as
each item is discussed, so we can get through the meeting as quickly as
possible.
Team Captains, I would like to organize a meeting for
Tuesday, July 26th so we can update our workers list, modify it if
necessary, and produce a membership roster so that call notification will then
be possible for bereavement or other such emergencies.
Thanks again all Council members and Ladies, too. Together,
let’s see how much better this next fraternal year can be.
Fraternally yours,
Randy Leitman
Grand Knight
Rosary
This month there will be a rosary said for deceased Brother
David Orf. His family has been invited to the hall for this. Please come out and
show the Orf family the commitment to each other and to the Knights of Columbus
organization that we all possess.

Plenary Indulgence for Year of the Eucharist
"A Plenary Indulgence is granted to all faithful and to
each individual faithful under the usual conditions (sacramental confession,
Eucharistic communion and prayer in keeping with the intentions of the Supreme
Pontiff, with the soul completely removed from attachment to any form of sin),
each and every time they participate attentively and piously in a sacred
function or a devotional exercise undertaken in honor of the Blessed Sacrament,
solemnly exposed and conserved in the tabernacle."
How to Obtain the Year of the Eucharist Plenary Indulgence
In order to obtain the plenary indulgence, you must be free
of all attachment to sin, even venial sin. In addition, you must meet these
three conditions within eight days before or after adoration of Our Lord in the
Blessed Sacrament: sacramental confession, reception of the Holy
Eucharist, and prayers for the Holy Father and his intentions (an Our Father and
a Hail Mary are recommended).
Next month: What is an Indulgence?
Hall Renovations
The following schedule of jobs will be followed in order to
facilitate the placement of the new floor. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Come out and enjoy camaraderie with your Brother Knights as what was said
earlier is very true –Many hands make light work. Please call me at 462-7390
if anyone has any questions. Thank you.

Project Chairman
Monday, July 25th
John Boland & his crew will unhook all appliances in
kitchen and make ready for their removal during the day.
In the evening, we will remove all appliances and sinks from
the kitchen. I would like for workers to arrive between 4:00 & 5:00. This
task should be completed in approximately two hours.
Tuesday, July 26th
I will be stripping floor tiles and preparing floor for
installation.
Ceiling tiles redone & replaced. Three to four men are
needed for this as there will be scaffolding that will be rolled around.
Sunday, July 31st
After the 5th Sunday Breakfast workers are
requested at the hall to remove the stage and the trim along the wall. We need
10 to 12 workers for this and it will probably take about two hours.
Week of August 8th
Put kitchen back together. The exact day and time of this
work will be determined by when the floor is finished, but I will be in touch
with workers sometime that week.
5th Sunday Breakfast
It has been decided to just have coffee, juice and donuts at
the hall on Sunday, July 31st following 8:00 Mass. Hope to see you
there.
Team Captains & Calling Committee Meeting
Since our corrected & updated roster of registered
members is now nearing completion, a Team Captain Meeting has been called for
Tuesday, July 26th at 5:30 PM at the KC Hall. A review of work teams
and possibly expansion of work teams from the current eight will be discussed.
There will also be a Calling Committee meeting scheduled for the same date at
6:30 PM. You will receive a phone call prior to the meeting.
Special Kudos
A special thank you goes out to Chad Simpson
& Mike Flynn for their investigation of the nachos & cheese addition to
our concession stand menu. It has been very successful. Thanks, guys!!
Ladies Auxiliary
The next Ladies Auxiliary meeting will be held on Tuesday,
August 9th. Thank you Ladies
for all the hard work you do!!
Ideas
We want all of you members to feel
important in this Council. This could not be the Council that it is and
is going to be without your full participation. We need
your ideas and input. Please come to the meetings
and be important. The meetings have been designed to socialize
beforehand and be productive during the meeting. Any information
you would like to get in the newsletter, please contact Mike Flynn (366-9934 or
314-568-8234) prior to Friday before the meeting.
Till Next Month
We want to thank everyone who has been working so hard to
make this a dynamic council. It is the hard work of all our members, and our
ladies, that makes this a great council. Thank you!!
Fraternally yours,
The Invigorating Committee
