Please submit your entries by the 7 th of the month. Thank You, The Newsletter CommitteeGRAND KNIGHT'S COLUMNBrother Knights, Welcome to a brand new year. I hope that together, we can make this a more prosperous and enriching year for our Council, Church and Community. There are a ton of programs and activities that the Knights can participate either through those suggested by Supreme, or the ones that we ourselves take on based on the needs of those around us in our own families, Church, and Community. The main principle of this order is CHARITY, combined with UNITY, FRATERNITY, and PATRIOTISM, clearly states that we as Catholic gentlemen, and brothers in the Knights of Columbus should work together to assist those less fortunate than ourselves, and help to spread the teachings of Christ. I hope that we will be able to not only continue to do the things we already do, but to take on a couple more challenges as well. All we need is more participation and cooperation from everyone. If you have not heard, the January meeting will be on Wednesday the 18th, due to the fact that several of our members will be leaving for the White House retreat on Thursday. We also voted, that any year in the future where retreat weekend clashes with meeting night, the meeting will be the Wednesday before. At the meeting we will have some special guests from Todd Mack's family, as well as from Pete Hemmer's family as we offer a Rosary for Todd's Stepfather, and for Pete. We also hope to have Teddi Michler with us to present her with a donation to Wonderland Camp where her daughter Michelle attends annually. This donation is from the M.R. drive held in October. Hope you can attend the meeting. We plan to set a date for our Appreciation Dinner, vote on some donations to be made through the recommendations of the charitable works committee, and start the countdown to the first fry of Lent, which is March 3, 2006. LETTERS TO THE EDITORSIf you have something that you would like to submit to the editor's or wish to give an editorial please do so by the 7 th of the month FINANCIAL SECRETARY'S COLUMNBy Jason Bolte: Greetings brothers as I begin this year I am finding that there are still some loose ends that I need to learn to allow my job to go smoothly. I do apologize that dues notices did not get sooner than they did but I am learning as I go and should have this process completely figured out by the end of this year's cycle. As I stated before I appreciate everyone who paid their dues ahead of time as it did make for less envelopes to stuff which was a task in and of itself. Those of you that have paid will receive their card at the next meeting and if for some reason you cannot attend the meeting I will mail the card to you after that meeting. I still have a few projects after this to complete. One is the ongoing project of getting the records updated. This has been a daunting task and I would ask that if you could find the time to please call me so that I have current information on you. Another project that I am working on is getting everyone assigned to a work crew. This should be completed by next month's newsletter (team captains please leave a night open that we can get together and go over this I will call you to set up that meeting). Finally, the photo directory is going to be back on track as Larry Fague will be at this month's meeting and next month's meeting to get you picture taken for the directory. Even if you do not want your picture in the directory please try and make to one of the next two meetings to at least update your information. On a side note About two month's ago when we did our membership drive we had a member reactivate and I do not have any information on him to get him back on record. That member is Roger Tiesing if anyone knows this brother and has a way of getting in touch with him please let me know or have him call me so that we can get him squared away. As always if there is anything that I can do to assist you please do not hesitate to call me. 636-366-4969 home, 636-262-9642 cell, or you can e-mail me at jb0819@yahoo.com . LECTURER'S COLUMNBy Dr. John C. Soucy, Jr., M.D.: Prayer of Thomas MertonMy Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will, does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does-in-fact-please you. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore, I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
